Therefore, I don’t think of it as strange that the Country Bookshelf website should congratulate Mary Jane (our fearless owner) for being recognized tomorrow night (Saturday 18 April) at the Friends of the Library Cornerstone Celebration for her considerable contributions to literacy in our community.

So, go to the Chronicle site, but also, go out and buy a paper, and while you’re at it, look at the fantastic ads with cariacatures of the local personalities scheduled to be at the event.)

Downtown Recovery Fundraiser Update

On Saturday, March 28th from noon to midnight, come to the Gallatin County Fairgrounds in Bozeman for a great time and a good cause. Many individuals lost homes and jobs in the recent explosion on Main Street here in Bozeman. This grassroots fundraiser is a community-wide effort to help, and Mary Jane DiSanti (owner of the Country Bookshelf) is one of the major organizers.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and includes a meal (TBA), children’s activities, and live music. A no-host bar will be provided by Mike Hope (owner of the Rockin ‘R), and a silent auction will feature a wide range of products and services donated by many generous businesses and individuals from all around the area.

All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Downtown Recovery Fund.

Edward S. Curtis Books

The Museum of the Rockies just opened its exhibit on Edward Sheriff Curtis, the controversial photographer, entitled “Edward S. Curtis: Artist as Ethnographer.” The exhibit runs through May 10th, but if you’re intrigued by Curtis’ work, be sure to come in and see our collection of books of and on his work and legacy.
